(3:48 p.m. EDT) — The New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) are together again and will set sail for the Bahamas on Carnival Destiny.

The boy band that made teen girls scream and swoon in the ’80’s and early ’90’s has grown up — and are quickly becoming the kings of the theme cruise world. Veteran cruisers the “Kids” sold out their first concert cruise in 2009, crashing the cruise lines reservation computer systems process. Their last cruise was sold out, as well.
The 2011 cruise goes on sale this Friday, August 13, 2010, and is sure to sell out quickly. The four-night Bahamas cruise departs on May 12, 2011, and visits Half Moon Cay (Carnival Cruise Lines’ private island) and Nassau. Fares start at $699, and fans who book within the first 24 hours will receive a mystery gift.

Past cruisers do have an advantage. They can start booking at 10 a.m. EDT on August 13, but new cruisers must wait until 3 p.m. to book.

While details are scarce at this point, the 2010 cruise featured live concerts, photo sessions, deck and beach parties, Q&A sessions with the bands … and, of course, lots of screaming female fans. The NKOTB Web site promises more face time and new events in 2011.

Theme cruises offer an exciting twist on the already popular cruise vacation and theme cruises are as unique as each passenger that books a cabin.
Carnival’s Destiny At Sea

“The best part of a theme cruise is that you’re traveling with other passengers that have a common interest.” Says Brian Regan a cruise industry analyst in New York City. “Theme cruises have long been popular but as competition for passengers becomes more fierce travellers can look forward to cruise lines offering more fascinating themes.”
