Journey to the Arctic with Elite Experts: Swan Hellenic Unveils 2025 Expeditions, Featuring Breathtaking Northern Lights Voyages

Six distinguished experts—including Greenland’s first female Prime Minister—will join Swan Hellenic guests on board and in the field, sharing their knowledge through captivating lectures and hands-on expeditions during this year’s Arctic adventures with the pioneers of cultural expedition cruising.
New York, NY: March 11, 2025 — Swan Hellenic has announced the roster of expert lecturers and guides set to accompany its 2025 Arctic Cultural Expedition Cruises. The boutique cruise line, known for its immersive exploration experiences, also confirmed that bookings are now open for its full slate of 40 Arctic voyages spanning 2025 and 2026. The journeys, spread across six carefully curated itineraries, will be undertaken aboard the company’s five-star, ice-class ships, SH Vega and SH Diana.
The itineraries include four core routes: a seven-night round-trip voyage, Exploring Svalbard, departing from Longyearbyen, Norway, the northernmost permanent settlement in the world; a ten-night Iceland to Greenland Roundtrip Cruise from Reykjavik; a ten-night Roundtrip Cruise to the Edge of the Arctic from Tromsø, Norway; and a ten-night Cruise from Iceland to Greenland, traveling from Reykjavik to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland.

Additionally, two extended voyages offer unparalleled opportunities to witness the Northern Lights in some of the Arctic’s most pristine landscapes: a 16-night Greenland and Northern Lights Roundtrip Cruise from Kangerlussuaq and a 15-night Canadian Arctic and Northern Lights Cruise, sailing from Kangerlussuaq to Halifax, Canada.

Enhancing these journeys are a lineup of distinguished experts who will provide in-depth lectures, lead expeditions, and engage with guests throughout their voyages. Among the notable names announced for 2025 are:
- Uli Reyer, a Ph.D. biologist and former professor at the University of Zurich, specializing in animal behavior and Alpine birds. Known for his dynamic lectures that blend science and myth-busting, he will accompany the Exploring Svalbard sailings on June 20 and June 27.
- Urs H. Fischer, a glaciologist with decades of experience studying glacier dynamics across the Arctic, Himalayas, and Alps. He will join the nine-night Cruise from Svalbard to Norway on June 22, as well as two ten-night Roundtrip Cruise to the Edge of the Arctic voyages departing on July 1 and July 11.
- Aleqa Hammond, Greenland’s first female prime minister and a prominent advocate for Arctic culture, politics, and environmental conservation. Fluent in six languages, she will provide insight into Greenlandic history and society on the Iceland to Greenland Roundtrip Cruise, departing July 31.
- Arielle Montgomery, a Stanford-educated engineer turned Arctic advocate, known as “Icebergchick.” Through her photography and storytelling, she brings awareness to climate change and Greenlandic culture. She will accompany the Iceland to Greenland Roundtrip Cruise on August 10 and the Greenland in Depth voyage on August 20.
- Antony Jinman, a seasoned polar explorer and the 12th Briton to ski to both the North and South Poles. He will share his experiences on the 16-night Canadian Northwest Passage & Northern Lights cruise, departing Kangerlussuaq on August 30.
- Gabrielle Slowey, a political scientist and Fulbright Arctic Chair specializing in Indigenous governance and Arctic policy. She will be on board for both the 16-night Canadian Northwest Passage & Northern Lights cruise (departing August 30) and the 15-night Canadian Arctic and Northern Lights cruise (departing September 15).
