Tropical Storm Colin forces Bermuda Itinerary Changes

(12:00 p.m. EDT) — Tropical Storm Colin, the third named storm of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, has been slow and disorganized over the past 24 hours, but is expected to reach the island of Bermuda early Sunday morning.According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm is currently located about 245

miles south-southwest of Bermuda and has been stationary for the past several hours. Maximum sustained winds have reached 40 miles per hour, and the NHC is predicting an increase in forward speed later today as Colin heads north-northeast.
Cruise Ship Itinerary Changes:

A Royal Caribbean rep has confirmed that Explorer of the Seas was able to dock in King‘s Wharf this morning, but will not be able to stay overnight, as scheduled. The ship will depart from Bermuda at 5:00 p.m. in order to avoid the path of the storm, and head directly to its next scheduled stop in Nassau, where it will overnight on Monday.Weather Outlook: Next Affected Ships & Ports: A tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda. There is a possibility that the storm will increase in strength and could cause coastal flooding and strong damaging winds. The biggest threat is to south-facing beaches. Given Colin’s forecasted path, ports along the East Coast, such as Charleston and Baltimore are unlikely to be impacted. However, if the storm turns westward, that could change.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Spirit is still scheduled to dock in King’s Wharf on Sunday morning, and the cruise line is closely monitoring the situation.
